Yaxley Festival, a beloved annual event in Cambridgeshire, has officially been cancelled for 2025 due to a shortage of organisers. The festival team announced the disappointing news on February 28, citing difficulties in maintaining the high standards the community has come to expect.
First launched in May 2013, Yaxley Festival has drawn tens of thousands of visitors each year to Middletons Road Recreation Ground. Known for its eclectic mix of live performances, a traditional Jack-in-the-Green parade, a bustling food court, a funfair, and arts and crafts stalls, the event has become a staple of the local cultural calendar. It even earned a spot in the Monopoly Peterborough Edition, cementing its significance in the region.
The organisers revealed that the cancellation follows a previous postponement in 2023 due to financial concerns. This time, the challenge lies in a declining number of core team members, making it impossible to run the event at the expected level.
In a heartfelt statement, the team expressed gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors, performers, and attendees who have supported the festival over the years. They acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but emphasised their commitment to delivering an event that meets community expectations—something they are unable to do in 2025.
While this cancellation is a setback, the festival’s legacy remains strong. Local supporters and organisers may look for ways to revive the event in the future, ensuring that Yaxley continues to host the vibrant celebrations it is known for.
