PAUS Cambridge, a wellness destination in Bourn, has unveiled a truly unique addition to its facilities: a converted double-decker bus fitted with three hot tubs on its upper deck. The bus, previously a popular fixture at festivals and events across the UK, now offers visitors panoramic views of the South Cambridgeshire countryside while they soak and unwind.
Originally transformed into a wood-fired spa in 2014 by Bathing Under the Sky, the bus represents the culmination of over a decade of experience for co-founders Alexandra Weissova and Bart Juranek.
The ‘hot tub bus warming’ event last Friday saw guests enjoy live music from the Wigfield Brass Band, performances from local improv artists and hospitality from nearby producers. The bus joins PAUS Cambridge’s existing 12 hand-crafted red cedarwood hot tubs, bringing the total to 15.
PAUS Cambridge, which opened in 2018, offers a comprehensive wellness experience. Alongside the hot tubs, visitors can enjoy four Finnish saunas, three cold plunge pools, a bistro serving food sourced directly from the venue’s own vegetable garden, and a 1km barefoot walking trail through rewilded meadows.
The business began in 2009 with a vision for providing unique wellness experiences. By 2011, the hot tub fleet was growing steadily, and in 2012, the team began entering the corporate market. The evolving business tested a pop-up concept at Bourn Golf & Leisure Club in 2017, before committing to a permanent site the following year.
Weissova and Juranek hope the combination of innovative facilities and natural surroundings will provide visitors with a truly restorative and relaxing experience. The hot tub bus, in particular, offers a distinctive and memorable way to unwind and enjoy the Cambridgeshire landscape.
