A prolific Peterborough drug dealer has been jailed for more than five years after returning to a life of crime almost immediately following his release from prison.
George Bellamy, 25, of Gazeley Gardens in Farcet, was arrested on 12 December after police intelligence linked him once again to the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. Officers raided his home and caught him red-handed trying to flush £1,800 worth of class A drugs down the toilet.
Bellamy had only recently been released under the Government’s early release scheme, having served a four-and-a-half-year sentence in 2023 for similar offences. He has eight previous drug-related convictions.
Today, he was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court to five years and seven months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.
Both drug use and dealing attract other forms of criminality, violence, and anti-social behaviour, which we do not want in our communities. That’s why we are relentless in stopping these criminals
Detective Constable Natal Melero, who led the investigation, said: “We will continue to pursue people such as Bellamy who think it is acceptable to deal these harmful substances in our county.
The case highlights the continued efforts by Cambridgeshire Police to tackle the local drugs trade and the wider impact it has on community safety.
Anyone with information about drug-related activity is encouraged to report it online via the force’s dedicated drugs information webpage.
