High street favourite Marks & Spencer is eyeing a bold new future in St Neots, announcing plans to relocate its foodhall to a significantly larger site on Cambridge Road. The new store—triple the size of the current High Street branch—will form a key part of the eastern expansion at Wintringham, one of the most ambitious new developments in the Cambridgeshire town.

If approved, the 16,000 sq ft foodhall will open in 2027 and promises a modern, fresh market-style layout, boasting an expanded range of M&S favourites and locally sourced produce. More than 40 new roles will be created, alongside the transfer of existing staff.

A spokesperson for M&S, said: “We want to offer our customers in St Neots the best possible shopping experience. That’s why we’re submitting plans for this new site—it’s about growth, better service, and more delicious products, including those from our 60 local supplier partners.”

The proposed M&S store will be a cornerstone of “The Hub at Wintringham”, a mixed-use zone at the heart of St Neots’ eastern expansion. Plans for the northern section of The Hub include retail, office space, a café, and landscaped public areas. Sustainability is front and centre, with features such as solar panels, EV charging points, and energy-efficient systems built into the M&S design.

The wider development will eventually include community facilities such as a nursery, health centre, library, and a David Lloyd Leisure Club. The full Hub is expected to roll out over the next five to six years.
