Residents of Trumpington have been left frightened and concerned after a series of deliberate bin shed fires over the past two weeks. The local police have treated the incidents as linked and have launched an investigation. A 25-year-old man from Cambridge was arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life on February 28. He remains in custody while authorities continue their investigation.
At least five incidents have been reported, with the most recent fire occurring in the early hours of February 26. The fires, which have targeted bin stores under flats, have raised alarms among locals who fear for their safety.
The fires were set at bin sheds located on Cornwell Road and Addenbrooke’s Road. Both sheds are situated beneath apartment blocks, with the blaze on Addenbrooke’s Road causing significant damage. The intense heat shattered a window, allowing smoke to enter a nearby flat.
