A Cambridge home at the centre of repeated complaints about anti-social behaviour has been partially shut after police secured a closure order aimed at restoring peace to the neighbourhood.
The order, granted by Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (13 November), applies to 8 Donegal and follows a detailed application by Cambridgeshire Constabulary. Officers argued that the property had become a focal point for disruptive and criminal activity, including drug misuse and incidents of violence.
Local residents had repeatedly reported disturbances over recent months, prompting a series of police interventions and evidence-gathering efforts by the neighbourhood team. According to officers, the volume and seriousness of incidents left the force with little option but to seek formal powers to curb the disorder.
The court agreed that the threshold for action had been met and authorised a closure order under the Anti-Social Behaviour and Policing Act 2014. The ruling means the property will be partially closed for three months, with strict limits on who can enter. Only the tenant and emergency services are permitted access until 12 February 2026.
The closure will remain in force until February next year, when the order will be reviewed. Authorities hope the intervention will prevent further criminal activity and help restore a calmer environment for the local community.
