A key stage has been reached in the ambitious Mill Yard development off Mill Road, as Railpen—the £34 billion UK railways pension fund—announces the appointment of three new leasing agents to lead the next phase of the project.

Property experts Bidwells, Cushman & Wakefield, and Knight Frank will now manage office leasing for the site, which promises to bring 70 new apartments, modern retail spaces and a landscaped public park to the area formerly known as Devonshire Gardens.

The project, developed by Railpen in partnership with Socius, broke ground earlier this year and is on track to be completed by early 2027. Mill Yard will become the city’s first true mixed-use campus in the heart of Cambridge, within walking distance of the railway station.

Innovation Meets Community on Mill Road

Mill Yard is designed to be more than just a development—it aims to foster community and innovation. The site will include 110,000 square feet of high-quality office space across three interconnected buildings, catering to Cambridge’s thriving life sciences and technology sectors.

Railpen’s Emma Goodford added that the appointed agents will help “secure the brightest and best from across the innovation and technology sectors”, drawn not only by the development’s design but also its prime location and strong transport links.

Designed by Buckley Gray Yeoman and delivered by RH Partnership Architects, the project sets new standards for sustainability and quality in central Cambridge. As the city grapples with housing demand and space for innovation, Mill Yard may serve as a blueprint for future urban developments.
