Levidian’s revolutionary LOOP technology has been successfully deployed at the Habshan complex, one of the world’s largest gas processing plants.

This cutting-edge technology represents a significant step in transforming methane into valuable clean hydrogen and high-quality graphene—two essential components in the energy transition. With the Habshan complex processing approximately 6.1 billion standard cubic feet of gas daily, this deployment marks a milestone in sustainable energy production.

Levidian’s LOOP technology has the potential to reshape the future energy landscape. It enables the production of two highly valuable commodities:

  • Hydrogen: A critical future fuel that supports the global shift toward clean energy.
  • Graphene: A super-material that enhances various industries, from renewable energy to infrastructure. Its applications include solar panels, electric vehicle batteries, energy storage facilities, tyres, concrete, and polymer pipes. By integrating graphene, industries can enhance efficiency, reduce leakage, and extend the lifespan of assets.

Industry Leaders Endorse LOOP Technology

John Hartley, CEO of Levidian, highlighted the importance of this milestone, stating:

The completion of commissioning at Habshan is a major milestone for the project and an incredible opportunity to demonstrate the application of our technology within one of the harshest, most operationally challenging environments anywhere in the world.

He further emphasised the growing demand for graphene and the role of ADNOC in positioning Levidian as a global leader in sustainable graphene production.

Mohamed Al Hashemi, Chief Operations Officer of ADNOC Gas, explained the impact of LOOP technology:

The deployment of LOOP technology is a significant milestone for ADNOC Gas. By transforming methane into valuable graphene and clean hydrogen, we are unlocking new value from natural gas, driving decarbonisation, and supporting the UAE’s industrial growth and climate ambitions.

Alessandro Bresciani, Senior Vice President of Climate Technology Solutions at Baker Hughes, praised the partnership:

“Bringing innovation from startups and research labs into the reality of complex industrial sites requires technical skills and the highest level of collaboration. We are delighted to have brought Levidian’s technology into ADNOC Gas’ Habshan plant.”

By harnessing the power of clean hydrogen and graphene, the project contributes to a more sustainable future while supporting the UAE’s industrial growth. As global industries seek decarbonisation solutions, innovations like LOOP technology will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of energy production.
