A convicted drug dealer from Cambridge has been ordered to repay more than £679,000 of his criminal earnings following a court ruling.
Maroof Rahman, 36, of Mill Road, Cambridge, was sentenced to 13 years and eight months in prison after police raided two properties linked to him in August 2022. Officers discovered cocaine, cannabis, drug production equipment, multiple mobile phones, £18,000 in cash, a firearm, and live ammunition.
Following a Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) hearing at Huntingdon Crown Court on 5 February, Rahman has been ordered to pay £30,918.86 within three months or face an additional two years in prison. He must also repay a further £648,468.26 upon his release.
Rahman, previously sentenced to six years in 2018 for drug offences, was found guilty at Peterborough Crown Court on 23 August of multiple charges, including:
- Possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition
- Concerned in the supply of cannabis
- Possession of cocaine
- Acquiring criminal property
- Possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis
Rahman ran a dangerous criminal enterprise across Cambridge, using others to distribute drugs while possessing deadly weapons. Now, alongside a long prison sentence, he must also repay his illegal profits.
