A Cambridge cheese shop was targeted in an attempted burglary earlier this month, prompting a police investigation and a CCTV appeal. The incident occurred at the Cambridge Cheese Company, located on All Saints Passage.
Glass Door Smashed to Gain Entry
Burglars smashed the shop’s glass door to break in. However, it remains unclear if anything was stolen. Photos shared on social media showed the extensive damage to the entrance.
The shop took a lighthearted approach despite the incident. In a Facebook post, they humorously speculated whether a 30kg Bergler cheese was used to break the door. They also took the opportunity to promote a rare Bavarian mountain cheese, which remains safely in stock.
“This beautiful cheese is sweet, nutty, and fruity, with a smooth texture and scattered crystals. It has been maturing in our cellars for a year, and fortunately, the burglars didn’t get to it,” the post read.
Police Appeal for Information
Cambridgeshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and CCTV footage. They urge anyone in the area between 6 PM on February 12 and 9 AM on February 13 to come forward.
A spokesperson confirmed that a crime report for burglary has been filed. Officers are working to determine if anything was stolen during the break-in.
