A drug dealer has been jailed for three years after police caught him with 18 bags of cocaine during a routine patrol in Cambridge.
Mariglen Sadiku, 26, of no fixed address, was spotted by neighbourhood officers on 26 March while driving a silver Mazda suspected to be linked to drug dealing. Officers stopped the vehicle and discovered Sadiku in the driver’s seat with cocaine hidden both in the car and in his clothing. The total street value of the drugs exceeded £650.
He was also carrying £207 in cash. Further checks by officers revealed Sadiku had no settled immigration status or visa, and was driving without a valid licence or insurance.
Three-Year Sentence for Repeat Offences
Sadiku appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, 30 May, where he admitted multiple offences. These included possession with intent to supply a class A drug, possession of criminal property, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
PC Rachel Burnett, from the Neighbourhood Support Team, praised the arrest, saying:
This proactive stop by our officers reflects our dedication in responding to community intelligence and we will continue in our efforts to disrupt the illegal supply of drugs in order to keep the public safe.
Local police have urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, emphasising that targeted patrols and community engagement remain key in tackling drug crime in Cambridge.
